so i'm still extremely pissed that valentina's computer is a piece of shit, but there's really not much i can do about that. i still can't really do much with e-mail, so i guess i'll just have to deal with that. it's not so bad, really.
well today we "went" to the schwartzwald, which is absolutely beautiful. even though we spent most of the day in the bus, the scenery was definitely worth it. we first went to this thingy that was like the german sturbridge village, which was alright. actually the only way it was like sturbridge was the buildings, which were as original as you could make them. it wasn't as cool in the sense that they didn't have all those weird people dressed up in costume from the time period, but what little we did see of the place was really cool. we basically just went into this really big farmhouse and the grist mill. i think the grist mill. that's the one where the grind the rye and such to make flour, right? anyway, we went to a mineral museum after that, that was loads of fun. i think i'll list that as the lamest part of our trip. he, cassidy and i were trying to make it as interesting as we could, taking pictures of ourselves in random poses there and buying postcards with ladies with beaded cakes on their heads. haha, good times. then we went to this little playground on a mountain to eat lunch, which was okay. after that we got to tour a mine! that was pretty cool. we had to wearthese rubber boots, bright yellow jackets, and helmets with light on them. cassidy was the lone one who was stuck with a jumpsuit because of the skirt she was wearing, haha. the tour was a bit boring, and our guide, who spoke english, had old-people breath that smelled like crap. really, you know how you can see your breath when it's cold? well it was that cold down there, and i found myself right behind him for more of the tour than i'd have liked. after that, i think we just kind of drive around and went to a church, got ice cream, and checked out this little souveneir shop. the church was really pretty and elaborate, but i don't think too many people really enjoyed it all that much. well, that's germany for you.
during the endless bus rides i got to know some of the other people who came with us. there were 2 boys who had done this mini-private exchange to our school back in the fall (i think), 3 of their friends, this random mexican girl who was visiting the school for a month, and this other guy who i think was her host. the host dude was really cool. he was doing all these card and magic tricks at the playground, and we were playing cards and talking a lot on the bus. his name is christian, and he's doing the directing and lighting for the show thingy that's going on at the gymnasium tonight and tomorrow night. it was so weird talking with him because there were all these random coincidences. like he's been to connecticut to visit his friend in wallingford, and it just so happens that my favorite local band is from wallingford (something about today, yeah!!!). also, a few of his friends from somewhere in connecticut (i think wallingford, still) go to uconn, and he said that they lived in a frat house. that would be so weird if they lived next door to me. i don't know, i think i'll get his e-mail or screenname or something before i leave, because he's on of the cooler guys i've met, not to mention that he's beautiful, hehe.
so tonight valentina's stuck with a lot of homework and studying for her french exam tomorrow, so i'm not really doing anything. i think we're going to freiburg tomorrow, and we're going to do a lot of hiking and such. that should be pretty cool. i just hope that cassidy warms up a bit. i don't know, she's a great person and all, but a lot of times she just gets on my nerves. like i know that she's bloody liberal, but she won't even consider any other point of view, and she really has no logical reasons in a debate. she even admits it herself. well, i know it's stupid, but it bothers me. and today on the bus, she was a bit bitchy. i can understand though, that when people are tired and want to hang low for a while, i'm no help. i never stop talking, and i guess i need to learn that most people don't want to be engaged in conversation 24/7, except for myself, hehe.
well this entry's really long, so i think i'm gonna save it before the computer blows up or something. not really, but i guess i should get off the computer already and if there's anything more that i'm just dying to say, i can write again later. tschüs all!

my favorite thing on trips were the bus / van rides :) you can get really tight with some people.

I remember on a van ride up from a couple states south, we all had taco bell...and it was raining and we were all wet..a nd tired.. .and someone was laying on the ground..and it was not a good thing.. .cuz the people in the van seats above them, who were sleeping, let loose the joys of Taco Bell :)

hehe, did you know that the germans freaking eat mcdonalds more than us, and then they complain about americans being fat? really, it's not our fault that we can't walk anywhere because we live "in the middle of the woods", as they have so kindly stated to me. grr, damn them.
