I've never been so disgusted with a novel as I am now. The Stranger by Albert Camus, a french exsistentialist novel, is the most rediculous, degrading, and pessimistic book I have ever read. I hate it.
Every time I finish reading from that book, I have this sense of "dirty" and disenchantment with life. And why does a book do this to me you ask?
Because it was written by a real person. A critically acclaimed, praised author no less. Why are they teaching this book in the public schooling system?
This book brings a sense of segregation between male and female, old and young, you and the world. It's awful.
Exsistentialism is rediculous, and any thought directed toward it should be equated with shallowness and extreme ignorance toward anything happening in this world.
/end rant.

true, the books they make us read in school definitely do suck and need to be looked over. we're reading the canterbury tales right now. i mean, what does that really have to do with anything. it's a waste of my time!

Found you at random. I guess the books you read in school are supposed to give you a broader sense of the world in general. I suffered through The Catcher in the Rye, A seperate Peace, Othello, To Kill a Mockingbird....etc....

Hello, I do hope you are still blogging in here because I do want to read some more philosophical posts instead of the usual everyday rants by most bloggers. You sound intellectual, so maybe you could just introduce your page to me?
