My puppy - Reno - is no longer with me - my eyes water

It was a good reminder today of the emotions we can feel when we get attached to someone - or an animal... I got a new puppy friday, Reno.  I actually loved him.  I don't get it - but I got SOO attached to him so fast.  He cuddled with me, slept with me, played with me (crapped all over my floor - just for me!).

Last night he didn't eat much - and then he slept through the whole night. This pointed out that something was wrong with him.  He wouldn't eat.  It was sad because he became more and more cuddly as time went on.  I wish he wouldn't have been - but he spent tons of time yesterday and today sleeping on me - which was part of the issue.

He caught parvovirus. I took him to the vet who told me what he'd have to undergo to have that slim 10% chance of actually surviving.  IVs, needles, medicine, 7 days away from me...  at the cost of 1 to 3K at least - if not more.

In the end, I did what I thought would be the most humane thing - I had him put to sleep.  I'm so sad that he's gone - and that we couldn't help him - but for the 10% chance that he'd survive, for 3k, and for the trama, I thought it was best to put him down.  At the end, I just wish he wasn't so damn cuddly - he held on to me like a baby.
