So, at the end of June I applied and interviewed for two jobs...got both of them..declined the scary one (the guys laid on the floor, drooled and screamed) and took the better of the two (at least at the better one I won't have to change diapers...as often?)...
So the company I am with helps adults with disabilities live and work in the real world. So here is who I work with:
Tweedle Dee has Schizophrenia (paranoia and preoccupations with police officers), an IQ of about 60 and other problems I guess. Anyway, he spends most of his days ripping on people, memorizing dates, looking at bridal magazines and coloring. He likes walks and music. He's actually pretty damn entertaining although we're not supposed to encourage him ripping on ppl....lame.
Tweedle Dum has some problems...He spends his days smelling like BO and making jokes about how great he is. He's really not all that great...he loves sports and listens to all the games and remembers everyone's stats...he likes to cook and it takes him 2 seconds to eat his meals. He spends so much time harrassing me that I don't mind that during my new schedule I'll hardly see him :)
Lone Ranger is deaf and is super addicted to soda. He will jump out of a moving car to get soda but he always feels guilty. He loves playing cards and drinking water. I don't think he likes me because he's always super serious, and i'm always super girly...oh well.
The guy who lives in the basement (i'm trying to not call him the troll) This guy is a fricken trip. He's either punching ppl or peeing on things...he likes puzzles and Nemo and music. He is scared of everything! He wets his bed at night and that is the reason why I was hired. Yay!
I should also mention my manager...a total wack job. He is running in 30 different directions at once! He is easily distracted and easily pushed over.
So anyway, I'm going to be spending most of my nights over there 10pm-6am doing a lot of nothing. Keeping the guy who lives in the basement in the basement and stopping tweedle dee from picking on lone ranger at 3am. It should be a great opportunity for doing homework in the middle of the night and getting a lot of reading done. maybe. i dont know how it's going to go.
I just know that in the past 2 weeks i've done about 50 hours of training and i picked up two shifts this weekend! yay! we'll see how everything goes :) i'll definitely keep you posted.
Down side to this job: I work every other weekend
Up Side to this job: Great work experience, moderately good pay and great hours that wont interfere with my graduate studies. also, the stories I will have to tell...i will always be the life of the part.
At least being in a long distance relationship prevents me from seeing mouse every weekend anyway...this way i will have an excuse for moping.
All of my over time money is going to go towards a new computer...i wonder if i can sell my old one for parts? it's only 4 years old...
alright, i'm going to do a tad bit of research now...
'night.
