For Al

Inside, holding memories
ten thousand holes within
start a fight won’t run away
won’t run and will not win

falls and then she tastes her blood
tastes it yet again
falls and believes she deserves every lash
revels in the pain

twisted mind, twisted right
hate makes this a victimless crime
she will fight, she will not run
yet she’s running out of time

her heartbeat steady, drums of war
beating like a clock
that chimes just when her life goes out-
thump-thump, tick tock, tick tock

back against the wall his hands
are digging in her skin
she spits her blood across his face
he’s not why she can’t win

she can’t win for failure is what she knows
what she understands
won’t let herself up, not yet strong enough
to accept helping hands

won’t see the light or face the day
won’t even wish she wasn’t this way
they say she chose the path of sin
she says they can not see her skin

so pale, frail, lack of light
she won’t let you make it right
scarred and bleeding, bruised tonight
and yet again she’ll choose to fight

fight a fight she will not win
would throw it if she could
she’ll never loose, will not go down
will not change her way though she should

She is the damned she is despair
she is sickness within health
she is hatred, lost and lonely
she is tainted wealth

she’ll spread her legs for
just a dime
sympathy is
a waste of time

she’ll laugh in your face,
mocking and loud
those like her, nothing
but proud

who won’t accept the way things are
or maybe they don’t care
so caught up in their suffering...
Thrive on life’s not fair

she’s everything you’ll never want
she’s a bottom feeder, scum
she’s tough she’s tasteless used up
worthless spat out gum

who had everything
looks and smarts
everything
but caring hearts

It’s not that I want the credit
if anything, it will be blame
and not that I think you would not have done it
some were simply born for fame

but as you wonder, I wonder to
what would your life be?
Those who could be great can go so greatly wrong
who would you be without me?

Would you even be alive?
You’ve told me likely no
but even if I were dead and gone
I’d never let you go.
